History Bike Tampa: Tampa Secret Societies

Time: 9:30 am til 12:30 pm

Location: Kahwa Espresso Bar at Element, 808 N. Franklin St. Suite 117, Tampa, Fl 33602

Description: For March we are bringing back the White Shadow Tour due to popular demand! Take a tour through Tampa's mafia underbelly as we explore the life of our most infamous mafia leader, Charlie Wall. We'll visit a few locations made famous by this organized crime leader, starting from his cradle all the way to his grave.

The ride will be at Kahwa Coffee (bottom of the Element Building) located in downtown Tampa, and registration starts at 9:30 AM. We will depart *promptly* at 10 am. The tour is provided free of charge, however, there's a suggested donation of $5.

The ride will last approximately 2 hours and will be traveling in light to moderate riding conditions. Please RSVP if you are planning on attending, and come ready to ride safe (helmet!!).


****FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE****
The ride will only be able to accommodate the first 80 registered riders. First come, first serve so show up early to sign in. No line holding, sorry! There are NO reservations --- joining the Facebook event is to help us gauge how much support the ride will need. Please come early to registration in order to secure a spot.

Archaeology Academy at Weedon Island Preserve

Time: 10:00 am til 2:00 pm

Location: Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center, 1800 Weedon Dr NE, St Pete

Description: Join us for an archaeology-themed day of activities and events to celebrate Florida Archaeology Month!

Schedule at a glance:
10:00 AM - 10:30 AM – Introduction and Presentations
10:30 AM – 12:00 PM – Open Archaeology Lab and AWIARE Lab tours (Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult)
10:30 PM – 2:00 PM – Pop Up Exhibit
12:00 PM – 2:00 PM – Site Hike and Tour (Registration Required)

Start at 10:00 AM with archaeologists from the FPAN and the USF and hear 2 short presentations on exciting new archaeological research going on now at Weedon Island. Kendal Jackson, a Ph.D. student at USF and Heather Draskovich, MA student at USF, will discuss their work exploring new lines of archaeological research in the Preserve.

From 10:30 – 12, get your hands dirty at our open archaeology lab and help sort and wash real artifacts. You can also walk over to the AWIARE research station and get a behind the scenes look at their lab and research facility within the preserve.

From 10:30 to 2:00 PM, please come by and check out a new Pop-Up exhibit highlighting some of the most recent archaeological finds from Weedon Island.
