Description: The DeSoto County Historical Society and FPAN
West Central will host the Pine Level Public Art and Archaeology Day on October 18, 2014 to learn more about the community and the people who lived there between 1866 and1888 and to celebrate its listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
In conjunction with the event, DeSoto Arts and Humanities Council is inviting artists to submit images of what they believe the community of Pine Level looked like during the years 1866 to 1900 as part of an art contest. Click the link for more information or the Call for Art

Description: The non-profit Reflections of Manatee invites you to join them in celebrating the many histories of Manatee Mineral Spring, a source of water for Native Americans, Spanish explorers, maroons, early settlers, Civil War soldiers, and 20th century picnickers. A Certified Guide will be on hand to lead a tour of interpretive signs that share the historical and archaeological evidence of the many peoples who used the spring.
