18th Annual Plantation Craft Festival at Gamble Plantation

Time: 10:00 am til 4:00 pm

Location: Gamble Plantation Historic State Park, 3708 Patten Ave, Ellenton, Florida 34222

Description: Come to the Gamble Plantation Historic State Park for the 18th Annual Plantation Festival! There will be arts and craft show including a children's art competition by several local schools that you can vote for your favorite piece of art. 1860's Soldiers' Camp will be set up. The event and mansion tours are free, suggested Parking donation of $1.00 and all proceeds go to benefit the Gamble Plantation Preservation Alliance

Lecture: Dressing the Best: The Story of Ann Lowe

Description: In celebration of Black History Month, delve into the history of fashion, race, and design with "Dressing the Best: The Story of Ann Lowe, America's First African American Fashion Designer," a lecture by Margaret Powell. The Henry B. Plant Museum is proud to be featuring three dresses deigned by Lowe in the exhibit Gasparilla: A Tampa Tradition. Each of the gowns is rare and unique featuring elaborate beaded designs. Hear about Lowe's history, her inspirations, and her iconic style. This lecture has been generously underwritten by the Henry B. Plant Museum Society, Inc.
