Gamble Plantation Field School Public Days

Description: See Archaeology In Action at Gamble Plantation!
The University of South Florida is hosting an archaeology field school at Gamble Plantation Historic State Park from May 15th through June 23rd.

Excavations are open for public observation every day, beginning from approximately 9:00 am until 2:30 pm Monday-Friday (ending at noon on Fridays).

Starting on the 25th of May, every Thursday will be public volunteer days. On these days, the public can participate in excavation and artifact washing beginning at 10 am. After our brief lunch break at 12 pm, we will meet back up at 1 pm for a demonstration of an archaeological method, or a lecture on an archaeological topic. Children are welcome, as we will have activities for all ages!

June 8th schedule:
10 am - Noon: Excavation
1 pm: Demonstration/Talk: Kendall Jackson: “Paleoethnobotany: Past Landscapes and Plant Use”
