Discover Prehistoric Florida

Location: Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center, 3940 Keystone Road, Tarpon Springs

Description: People have lived throughout Florida for thousands of years, but the only way we know about them is through archaeology and the clues they left behind. In this family friendly presentation we will explore some of Florida’s most unique archaeological sites and the amazing finds that archaeologists have made there. Learn what it was like to live in prehistoric Florida long ago, complete with real artifacts and replicas of tools that ancient Floridians would have used to survive. Wherever you live in Florida, a cool archaeological site you can visit is never far away!

Sulphur Springs Art and Archaeology Day

Description: Please join the Florida Public Archaeology Network and the Sulphur Springs Museum and Heritage Center for an afternoon of fun and history at Mann Wagnon Park in Sulphur Springs! Learn about how Native Americans once used the spring and river in their day to day life and enjoy the new Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibit “Water/Ways” now on display at the Sulphur Springs Museum. There will be free activities and crafts for kids and families including: mask painting, pottery making, rope making demonstrations, and even a chance to create your own mini boat to take home with you.
