Archaeology Talk: 2016 Cornelia Futor Memorial Student Paper Winners

Time: 6:00 pm til 7:00 pm

Location: Selby Library, 1331 First St., Sarasota 34236

Description: Time Sifters Archaeological Society Speaker Program - 2016 Cornelia Futor Memorial Student Paper Winners

In honor of one of Time Sifters founders, award-winning student research will be presented at the Time Sifters April meeting. This area is home to top colleges and universities that are training the next generation of archaeologists, historians, and geographers who interpret the past through artifacts, art, historic documents, maps, etc., or question the way we preserve, present, and participate in heritage. These "kids" do great work and are excited to share their research with the public. Past winners of this annual grant contest have presented on subjects as varied as analysis of shell tool technology, new interpretations of the Portavant Temple Mound site, the use of comics to convey archaeological data, and gendered representations of the Falcon Hero breastplate excavated at the Lake Jackson Mounds. The students are bright and engaging and this is always a popular program.
