A Seminole Wars Tour of Florida

Description: Florida’s Seminole Wars are often said to be the longest, costliest, and deadliest of all the nation's Native American wars, spanning a period of forty years. For the Seminole people, it was a fight to remain in their homeland which sadly ended with the removal of 3,000 Seminoles from Florida.
In conjunction with Florida’s recognition of Native American Heritage Month, the Manatee County Historical Commission will host a presentation by authors and Seminole War historians, John and Mary Lou Missall, titled: A Seminole Wars Tour of Florida. The Missall’s primary work focuses on the Seminole Indian Wars. Their presentation will correlate with the newly released Florida Seminole Wars Heritage Trail book, a Florida Heritage Publication released by the Florida Division of Historical Resources. The couple served as Editors-in-Chief and Project Administrators for the guide. Admission is free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
