Salty Topics: FLORIDA’S DEEP SHIPWRECKS

Time: 7:00 pm til 8:00 pm

Location: Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Dr NE, St Petersburg

Description: Thousands of shipwrecks rest off Florida’s coast. While many divers may be aware of the numerous sites found in shallow, recreational-depth waters, few are likely familiar with the magnificent shipwrecks that lie in deeper water. This presentation will introduce the audience to Florida’s most spectacular and historical deep shipwrecks.
An accomplished diver, author, and photographer, as well as founder and director of the Association of Underwater Explorers, Michael Barnette has been actively researching and exploring shipwrecks for almost 25 years, resulting in the identification of more than 40 shipwrecks. He has dived on numerous historic shipwrecks, including the ironclad U.S.S. Monitor, the liner Andrea Doria, the battleship U.S.S. Virginia, and the H.M.H.S. Britannic, sister ship of the fabled R.M.S. Titanic.
