Not in My Backyard Part III: But It's Ugly!!

Time: 6:00 pm til 9:00 pm

Location: The Pier, 3rd Floor, 800 2nd Ave. NE, St. Petersburg

Description: St. Pete has a little recognized collection of outstanding buildings from the mid-century modern era of the 1950s and 60s. What makes the buildings of this era, designed in an architectural style many describe as "ugly", worthy of protection? Discussion panel includes Dr. Morris Hylton of the University of Florida, Chris Sheffield, SLDesign, Philadelphia and Kathleen Kauffman, Historic Preservation Chief for Miami-Dade County. Free program at 7pm, meet the panelists at a 6 pm reception with sumptuous appetizers and cash bar. This is the third in a series of programs sponsored by St. Petersburg Preservation and funded by a grant from the Florida Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
