Walk Tampa: The Ybor City Story

Time: 10:00 am til 11:30 pm

Location: Cuban Club, 2010 N Avenida Republica De Cuba, Ybor City, FL 33605

Description: Join the Tampa Bay History Center for a guided tour of historic Ybor City. This 90-minute walking tour is led by a History Center-trained docent and focuses on the founding and development of Ybor City in the late 19th century early 20th century. You'll tour Tampa's only National Historic Landmark District and learn about the people, social life and work culture of early Ybor. You'll visit mutual aid societies, the Ybor Cigar Factory, and other key landmarks, and hear the stories behind one Florida's oldest and most unique communities.

Tours meet in front of the Cuban Club, 2010 N Avenida Republica De Cuba, Ybor City, FL 33605.

Participants will walk a total of approximately one mile along public sidewalks and brick streets. Please be sure to wear comfortable shoes and attire for walking outside. Guests might also want to bring bottled water on the tour.

Play and Learn at the Palm Harbor Museum: Florida's Native People

Time: 12:00 pm til 2:00 pm

Location: Palm Harbor Museum, 2043 Curlew Rd, Palm Harbor, Florida 34683

Description: Come to the Palm Harbor Museum this summer to learn about Native Floridians! Bring your kids to the museum at 12:00 pm for our fun and exciting series on Pinellas County’s Native people. During this two-hour event, kid’s will learn about how our indigenous Tocobaga and Safety Harbor Culture peoples lived by handling reproduction tools and artifacts and practicing the skills used by Pinellas County’s Native people.

Your child will get to participate in making stone tools, using primitive fire-starting methods, hunting techniques, and pottery creation.

Parents are free to attend with the purchase of their child’s ticket. We welcome children from ages 7 to 12.
