Lecture: Kwanzaa and the Creation of Pan-African Identities in America

Description: Prof. Tameka Hobbs (History and African American Studies, Valdosta State U.), discusses the importance of Kwanzaa as a method of unifying, healing, and educating across the African diaspora. Since its founding in 1966, the Kwanzaa holiday has been embraced across the U.S. and offers an opportunity to explore and define the relationship of Blacks in America to the cultures and peoples of the African continent.
There will be refreshments and free admission.
