Lecture: Florida on the Map: A History of America in 100 Maps

Time: 6:30 pm til 7:30 pm

Location: Tampa Bay History Center, 801 Old Water St., Tampa, FL 33602

Description: Throughout its history, America has been defined through maps. Whether made for military strategy or urban reform, maps capture what people knew, what they thought they knew, what they hoped for, and what they feared, offering an unrivaled window into the past.

The History Center welcomes author and historian Susan Schulten to the first annual Nell Ward Lecture in Cartography. Author of the recently-published “A History of America in 100 Maps,” Schulten will use maps of Florida and North America to explore five centuries of American history, from the voyages of European discovery to the digital age.

Lecture is free, see link for more details
