Description: Our next Archaeology on Tap speaker is going to be University of South Florida graduate student Heidi Miller who will be talking about her summer working on Gamble Plantation.

Summary of talk-
Gamble Plantation in Ellenton, Florida was once the largest sugar mills in the state of Florida and at its peak held more than 200 slaves to work the property and process the sugar cane. Today, the plantation is a state historical site, which includes the Plantation Mansion, the sugar mill ruins, and the Patten House. Recent archaeological excavations conducted by Dr. Wallman and USF students are helping to rewrite the narrative of the Museum by uncovering evidence of the enslaved individuals who lived and worked on the property.
