Rye Cemetery Preservation and Beautification

Time: 8:30 am til 11:00 am

Location: Rye Preserve, 905 Rye Wilderness Trail, Parrish, FL 34219, meet at the Pavilion

Description: Volunteer to spruce up the Rye Pioneer Trail and historic burial grounds by removing litter and invasive plants. Next we will be cleaning the gravestones with a special solution to help them shine.

Program suitable for participants ages 6 and older. This event is free.

Archaeology Lecture: Heritage at Risk-A Call for Action

Location: Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center, 1800 Weedon Dr NE, St Pete

Description: Central Gulf Coast Archaeological Society Lecture Series: Heritage at Risk- A Call for Action

Jeff Moates, West Central Region Director, Florida Public Archaeology Network, will discuss the Heritage Monitoring Scouts, or HMS, citizen science program focused on tracking changes to archaeological sites at risk, particularly those effected by storms, erosion, and sea level rise. Come and learn how you can get involved in protecting Florida’s heritage.
