Description: Clues to Florida’s maritime history are scattered along the state’s coasts, bays, and rivers in the form of shipwrecks relating to waterborne exploration, commerce, and warfare. This lecture features Florida’s Museums in the Sea, historic shipwrecks that have been interpreted for divers and snorkelers as a way to educate citizens and visitors about the real treasure of Florida’s shipwrecks – their history.

Description: On the 2md Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9 pm, we transform the Bishop Planetarium into a forum for discussions at think + drink (science), a place where you can grab a beer or a glass of wine (or a soft drink) and learn about cutting-edge science in a relaxed, informal setting. Typically our "expert du jour" gives a short presentation on the topic of the month, and then opens the floor for questions and discussion. Drinks and bar snacks available for purchase. Feel free to bring food.
South Florida Museum's think+drink science program presents : The Evolution of Architecture
From the “cavemen” who sought shelter in existing caves to the creation of modern structures made from wood, metal and glass, humans have shown a remarkable ability to create environments to suit their needs. Join the team of architects and designers currently working to “evolve” the South Florida Museum for a discussion about the art and science of architecture that will surely open your eyes to a new way of looking at the built environments we live, work and play in.
