Description: Pottery was an important part of Native American culture and has also become a valuable artifact for archaeologists today. Learn all about the Native American process for making pottery, how and why they used it, and what information archaeologists can get from studying these small pieces of the past.

Shipwrecks of Tampa Bay

Time: 3:00 pm til 4:00 pm

Location: Florida Maritime Museum, 4415 119th St W, Cortez, FL 34215

Description: Archaeology Lecture: Shipwrecks of Tampa Bay

Jeffrey Moates, the Director of the West Central and Central Regional Centers for the Florida Public Archaeology Network, will explore the sinking of two boats on the Hillsborough River during the Civil War and two other local shipwreck sites the public may explore today.

Admission is FREE but donations are appreciated. Seating is first come first serve, beginning at 2:30 pm. Florida Maritime Museum members can reserve seats by calling (941) 708-6120.
