Historic Manatee Monday Walking Tour

Time: 3:00 pm til 5:00 pm

Location: 1312 2nd Avenue East and 14th Street East Bradenton 34208

Description: Join Reflections of Manatee’s costumed volunteers as they guide you through the Old Settlement of Manatee. This leisurely 8 block walk begins at the Manatee Mineral Spring. Learn about the aboriginals, Spanish Fish Camps, Seminoles and the Angola run-away slave settlement which found refuge near the spring. See a sugarcane field and learn about the Seminole Wars and the fort that brought settlers to the site. As you walk under the hammocks of oak you will be guided to the pioneers’ homesteads and learn interesting facts from their lives here on the river in the 1840-50’s. The tour takes you to the Curry homes which are being restored as museums where both Confederate and Black Union soldiers camped. Come early to walk the pathway of 12 interpretive signs.
