The truth of who owns the authentic Cuban sandwich – Tampa or Miami – will be revealed during Happy Hour Thursday, January 10 at the St. Petersburg Museum of History. Kicking off the “Happy Hour with the Historian” lecture series will be renowned food historian and author Andy Huse discussing the Great Cuban Challenge: Florida’s Foodways and Customs.

Huse has lectured extensively on Florida food and history and authored “The Columbia Restaurant: Celebrating a Century of History, Culture and Cusine.” Huse also co-authored “Seabreeze by the Bay Cookbook” and his Florida food articles have appeared in various academic and popular magazines.

Doors open at 6pm for a happy hour cocktail meet & greet with Andy Huse, followed by a discussion of Florida’s historic Latin food customs. Cuban sandwich samples will be provided by Pipo’s Cuban Café.

$5 suggested donation. The event runs from 6pm - 8pm and will feature a full cocktail bar, wine and beer.
