Hillsborough River Public Archaeology and History Day

Time: 10:00 am til 3:00 pm

Location: MacDill Park: 100 N. Ashley St. (downtown Tampa)

Description: Join us at MacDill Park in Downtown Tampa as we celebrate the Hillsborough River through its archaeology! There will be free crafts and activities for kids, as well as fun things to do for adults.

Learn about the rich history right beneath your feet during a walking tour of Downtown Tampa, build and race your own sailboat, learn to make rope from natural materials, paint a mask or play the Ball Game like Tampa's first inhabitants did, bring a picnic to enjoy with your family and learn about archaeology in your area! A walking tour of the archaeology of downtown Tampa will be held at 12:30.

This event is part of a month-long celebration, "The Hillsborough River: Human Connections" presented by the USF Humanities Institute. The program is partially funded through a major grant from the Florida Humanities Council and is supported by a number of community partners.
