Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day at Cracker Country

Time: 10:00 am til 4:00 pm

Location: Cracker Country, 4800 Highway 301 North Tampa, FL 33610

Description: Come make memories while reliving rural Florida’s past at Cracker Country. Whether you’re churning butter, scrubbing clothes on a washboard, playing with old-fashioned toys, watching a blacksmith at work or touring our historic buildings, we create experiences that last a lifetime.

Meet a Florida cracker cowhunter. Deriving their name from the cracking cow whips used to drive free range cattle in the wilds of 19th century Florida, these rugged men may have been on the trail for months at a time. Catch a glimpse into their daily lives.
