Lecture, Urban Archaeology in Ybor City

Time: 6:00 pm til 7:00 pm

Location: Selby Library, Sarasota

Description: Time Sifters on Wednesday September 19th at 6 pm, hosts a free, open-to-the-public presentation on "Urban Archaeology in Ybor City" by Jeff Moates, Florida Public Archaeology Network. Selby Public Library, downtown Sarasota.

Description of the talk: This summer, staff from the West Central Regional Center of FPAN and volunteers conducted archaeological investigations at the Ybor City Museum State Park. Located on 9th Avenue and 19th Street in Ybor City (Tampa), the city block was once the home of many cigar factory and related industry workers and their families. This presentation covers the background of the particular lot and our current work to connect the small forgotten things recovered during excavations to the people of Ybor City's past and present.
