Time: 6:00 pm til 7:00 pm
Location: Custom House Museum, 281 Front St, Key West, FL 33040
Description: Located just off the northeast corner of Key West, Stock Island was the second archaeological site recorded in Monroe County. The site is one of the biggest Pre-Columbian habitations ever known in the Keys, consisting of a black-earth mound and a large midden of shells, sea-turtle bones, and fish and shark remains. In this presentation, Ryan will present his ongoing dissertation research there, which seeks to determine whether Stock Island was a seasonal fishing ground used by mainland natives, or the site of a permanent year-round village. Please note the cost for this event is 5$-10$.
