“Florida’s Early Trading Companies and their Relationship with Native Americans ”
The Panton-Leslie Indian Trading Company was the largest European trading house in the southeast during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. During this time the company held a relative trading monopoly, often acting as mediator between native peoples and the various European powers operating in the area. In this presentation Mr. DiBiase will discuss the history of the company and the affect that it had on Florida’s colonial history.
