"Florida on Fire" lecture

Time: 2:00 pm til 3:00 pm

Location: Orlando Public Library, 101 E. Central Blvd, Orlando, FL

Description: Humans have utilized fire for over 500,000 years and its capture and domestication transformed human civilization. Florida has a deep connection to fire. Prehistoric Floridians relied heavily on fire and we see its application in numerous aspects of their culture. But our close association with fire has persisted, sometimes with disastrous consequences. This presentation examines how fire has affected and shaped our state and the lives of its residences, both past and present.
