"Silver Glen Run before The Yearling"
Had Marjorie Keenan Rawlings written about Silver Glen Run 3500 years ago, instead of the 1930s, she would have described a place vastly different than the backwoods setting of The Yearling. Recent archaeological investigations show that its ancient shellworks began to take shape over 6000 years ago, when communities occupied camps along the run and interred their dead in nearby mounds. The remains of this ancient history are showcased in an illustrated tour of Silver Glen Run.
