Finding Ponce: Myth, History, and the Quest for the Fountain of Youth

Description: Dr. J. Michael Francis presents 'Finding Ponce: Myth, History, and the Quest for the Fountain of Youth.' This lecture explores the early decades of Spanish Florida history, from Juan Ponce de León's 1513 expedition to the foundation of St. Augustine more than five decades later. It reveals a story that is ultimately far more rich than the many myths that dominate our understanding of the period. Cost: $10 for members of the Historical Society and Bethesda-by-the-Sea; $20 for non-members; Free for members at the Barefoot Mailman level and above.
