Then and now:Life Along the New River

Description: The “Then & Now: Life along the New River” exhibit is a celebration of Fort Lauderdale’s rich past, told through the stories of those who lived along the banks of New River. The public is invited to visit the exhibit, at the Florida Atlantic University’s Second Avenue Studio.

The Rivermont Site

Time: 6:00 pm til 7:00 pm

Location: 111 East Las Olas Blvd Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33301

Description: The Rivermont Site is a historically significant home located upon one of the few remaining prehistoric Native American mounds on the New River. Mr. DeFelice will discuss the historical and archaeological significance of this place as it relates to the New River and Ft. Lauderdale's Sailboat Bend.

Maya Perspectives on 2012

Description: Lecture by Robert Sitler, PhD, hosted by the Institute of Maya Studies Robert Sitler’s immersion in Maya culture began with a transformative spiritual experience more than three decades ago in the ruins of Palenque, Mexico.
