Description: How do we know how old artifacts are? There are myriad ways that the archaeologist can work to discover a time period for an artifact or an archaeological site. Archaeology Works is an involved, hands-on approach to learning about how archaeologists conduct research. This talks will discuss fundamental aspects of archaeological dating, different types of dating techniques, and even delve into the science of putting a number to an item that is thousands of years old. A series of learning stations will then provide attendees with hands-on opportunities to learn some basic archaeological dating skill first-hand.
