Description: Wine has been a part of human culture for millennia with globalization fueling ever increasing interest of wines from around the world along with a corresponding potential for a promising agricultural tourism industry. The increase in demand has encouraged people to develop wineries and vineyards in regions with limited resources, such as water, land, and even labor, which create tensions among several sectors involved directly and indirectly with the wine industry. This presentation discusses the tensions produced by the booming wine tourism industry in Temecula Valley, Southern California, between residential and agricultural sectors as they face a historic drought. Varying individual perceptions and cultural backgrounds affect how people manage resources in this wine region, which should reflect on the flavor of the wine.
