Science Saturday: Timucuan Technology, Prehistoric Thatching

Time: 9:30 am til 12:30 pm

Location: Oakland Nature Preserve

Description: Join Sarah Miller of the Florida Public Archaeology Network for a morning of exploration into building technology from 4,000 years ago.This 3 hour, hands-on workshop will introduce participants of all ages to the Timucuans and their basic tool kit. During the workshop, you will learn how to thatch and make cordage (primate rope). Free to the public!

Fall Family Fun: Cookie Excavation

Location: Hiawassee Branch Library

Description: Learn how destructive excavation can be! Discover the basics of archaeology and excavation by working on your own cookie "site". Ages 6 and up. Seating is limited. Registration required. Call 407.835.7323 to register.
