“Are we there yet? Looking for Ft. Shackelford”
In 1855, the construction of a federal fort known as Fort Shackelford on Seminole Reservation lands heightened tensions in South Florida between white settlers and the Seminole. By the end of the year, the Third Seminole War had erupted.  Dr. Snapp’s presentation will focus on the events leading up to this conflict and the search for this elusive fort.

FPAN is co-hosting this event.
