The Relationship Between Geology and Archaeology in Florida

Time: 7:00 pm til 8:00 pm

Location: Florida Historical Society State Library, 435 Brevard Ave, Cocoa, 32922

Description: Humans have occupied Florida for more than 12,000 years. The record of prehistoric human activity is well documented in numerous terrestrial and submerged sites. Why does Florida have so many archaeological sites? Is there a link between site preservation and geological processes? What kinds of geological resources were important to Florida’s first people? In this lecture we will discuss the link between Florida’s prehistoric inhabitants and the geologic resources they relied upon. Come meet Florida’s first geologists!

FPAN is hosting this event.
