Ties that Bind: St Johns Connections within and Beyond Florida

Time: 2:00 pm til 3:00 pm

Location: 435 Brevard Ave, Cocoa, FL 32922

Description: Around AD 1000 in northeastern Florida, natives in this part of the state were actively engaged in long-distance trade networks that brought mica, galena, copper, and stone to the Jacksonville region.  These groups were major players in early Mississippian-period trade. Come hear Dr. Ashley describe the fascinating archaeological evidence of long-distance trade linking north Florida to Cahokia in St. Louis.
