Pioneer Days

Time: 9:00 am til 4:00 pm

Location: Rainbow Springs State Park

Description: Bring all your senses to the Pioneer Days experience at Rainbow Springs State Park just north of Dunnellon, Florida on state route 41. For two days the Florida Pioneer will be portrayed by the activities, skills and pasttimes of the late 1800's. See wood workers, corn grinders, shawl weavers, basket and broom makers, a potter, a blacksmith and quilters at work, note the period dress, hear trappers tell their tales and learn about their tents and tools, listen to the crack of the horseman's whip and the crackling fire used in candle and soap making and campfire cooking, and enjoy the music of a state champion dulcimer player and musicians who sing and play in one of the park pavilions and as they stroll the park, taste butter churned on the premises and enjoy the park concession stand and the other good-tasting options that will be available, try your hand at making crafts of the era - the list goes on. Mark your calendars now for a splendid experience the last weekend of February in 2013. Recently over 4800 people visited the park to enjoy Pioneer Days.
